Renaissance Art

Renaissance Art is unique and loveable so much in our culture because of its position in history. Although there were many works of art that came out of the Medieval Ages, there was little compared to the amount produced during the renaissance. This fact alone is what I think contributes to the obsession with this time period. Many people think of the Medieval times as dark ages and they don't see the colorful works of art that were produced in it, they only see the works of art after the classic Greek revival in the Renaissance period. This could attribute to the reason why our culture today in so fascinated by this time period, it is reviving the classic art from the high Greek and Roman times. It's hard to say why our culture focuses on big name artists like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, but it could be just because they produced many works of art and because they worked for powerful Kings and Lords their works are remembered more than those who just painted or drew for themselves or the poor. Most of these artists worked and studied under the Medici family and so they learned much more than the common artist and their paintings and sculptures were put in more popular spaces. However I have learned to look beyond these big names and observe other artists during the time whose works are just as amazing and beautiful.
